As announced by Nike CEO John Donahoe, the Nike Kobe line will return on August 24, Kobe Day 2023. Since Kobe Bryant's death in January 2020, the ultra-popular line has had something of a tumultuous run: Bryant's partnership with Nike expired in 2021 and his estate reportedly had no plans to renew the deal at the time.

Before the acrimonious breakup in the summer of 2002, followed by an incredible sneaker free-agency season, Bryant started his professional career with adidas. In fact, Bryant won three consecutive championships and a plethora of individual awards while wearing the three stripes.

Nike and the Bryant estate had approximately a year-long split before agreeing to a new deal in March 2022. However, Nike has only sporadically released sneakers from the Kobe line in very limited quantities, which sell out immediately.

“Kobe Brand is back,” Nike announced on social media on Aug. 9, teasing the shoe line is “almost here.” Nike and Vanessa Bryant made the announcement by dropping a teaser video. The company will begin releasing new Bryant shoes on Aug.
