Fake Nike Dunks often have messy, inconsistent stitching around the swoosh logo and midsole. Real Nike Dunks have an evenly stitched “NIKE” logo on the back of both heels and well-punched perforations all over the toe box. Search the style number on the interior size tag online to see if you have authentic shoes.

“The hype around NIKE Dunk releases is at an all-time high and due to popular demand, we're currently out of stock,” explained Foot Locker on its website. Even if you shop directly from NIKE, it can be hard to get your hands on a pair of Dunks because, again, most sizes sell out almost instantly.

Locate the tag inside your shoe. All authentic Nike shoes have a tag sewn into them with their size, barcode and model number on it. You will recognize it most easily by the barcode. Look for it inside: The tongue.

Originally named the College Color High, the Nike Dunk was made for the basketball court. With a similar look to the Jordan 1, the Nike Dunk launched in several collegiate colorways, including Syracuse, Georgetown, and Kentucky as part of a “Be True to Your School” marketing campaign.
