The Air Jordan 1 faced a backlash from the NBA after Jordan donned the black and red sneakers during a preseason game in 1984. The NBA sent a letter to Nike, stating “the red and black Nike basketball shoes...” violated league policy, incurring a $5,000 per game fine.

All Nike shoes are packed inside a box with a certain label and tag. The colour and print of the box usually vary depending on the style but mainly the boxes revolve around the colors red, orange, and brown. The print on the box should have the size, serial number, and style, with a barcode.

If you haven't worn the shoes out completely, you should be able to find inside each shoe a tag with a upc barcode as well as a number. That number is the identifying number for the model.
